2024 Ford Mustang, the icon revisited
Few cars are as famous as the sporty 2024 Ford Mustang. Remodelled for the new model year, the iconic muscle car presents itself with a more assertive look than ever and a cabin inspired by the most modern elements. This seventh generation also features a number of far-reaching changes, including a revised chassis and upgraded powertrains. Not to mention the all-new Mustang Dark Horse version, with the most powerful naturally-aspirated engine in the range under the hood.
Power to spare
It's no secret that Mustang enthusiasts love the way it drives and are enthusiastic about its power. And the Mustang doesn't skimp in this respect. Base versions are offered with the astonishing 4-cylinder 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine developing 315-hp, a slight increase since last year. The 5.0-litre V8 will continue to be de rigueur and will also increase its power to 480-hp. But the most astonishing of all will be a dark horse's engine, a modified, non-turbocharged 5.0-litre V8 developing up to 500 horsepower! A six-speed manual gearbox and a 10-speed automatic gearbox will be available, depending on engine choice.
Time for techno
The new-generation 2024 Mustang will feature a host of onboard technologies for comfort, entertainment and driving. For example, the Mustang's redesigned cockpit includes an optional 13.2-inch screen, part of a large-curved display that extends across the center of the dashboard. The system also replaces traditional climate control and radio buttons with touch-screen "buttons". SYNC4 will be offered, enabling better smartphone integration and over-the-air updates.
Performance through and through
Performance is part of the Mustang DNA, and the 2024 generation is no exception. GT and EcoBoost models will offer an optional Performance Package that adds a Torsen limited-slip differential, wider tires and Brembo brakes. Magneride active damping suspension is also available. An anti-drift brake system will also be offered for ultra-high-performance enthusiasts, while an active exhaust is added as an option. And just for fun, Ford has also introduced a Remote Rev function that allows the car's engine to rev up with a simple click on the key fob while you're still outside the car.
Safety first
No matter how sporty a vehicle may be, it must also be safe. And that's the case with every version of the Mustang, whether coupe or convertible. Every Mustang comes with the Ford Co-Pilot360 system as standard. This package includes driving aids such as adaptive cruise control as standard, lane departure warning and lane keeping assist as standard.
